A new LGBTQ+-friendly hotel called Revolver is opening in Glasgow this August.
Located in the heart of Merchant City above popular Glasgow nightclub Polo Lounge, Revolver opens its doors on 15 August 2022, and is on a mission to revolutionise the city’s LGBTQ+ scene.
Up-and-coming Glasgow-based queer artist Lewis Quinn, has created artwork featured within the communal areas and the bedrooms, and the overall design of the hotel was curated by Robbie Crocker at Crocker Smith Design.
Overall, there are 88 beds across the three floors of the Revolver hotel. The complex has 29 bedrooms altogether, ranging from £25 to £300 per night, meaning there is something to suit every budget.
There is a mix of shared rooms, as well as hotel rooms and apartments, which make it suitable for solo travellers, a group of friends, or a couple.
The shared rooms can hold between six and eight people at one time, with these having access to a communal bathroom. The hotel rooms and serviced apartments come with their own en-suites.
The hotel’s amenities include a rooftop terrace with views overlooking the city, a gym and treatments rooms.
Jonathan Doherty, Owner of WORQ Group, who manage the hotel, said: “The group have made quite a ripple in the boutique hotel scene in the West of Scotland and the surrounding areas recently, with award-winning Boutique50 in Glasgow’s gorgeous West End, to Riva Boutique Hotel in Helensburgh, just a short train journey from the city.
“With this new project, the group are hoping to make Revolver the blueprint, and are already looking at sites in different cities to introduce Revolver to guests all over, with Glasgow being the flagship. The group has a variety of different sites, not just hotels but bars, restaurants, and even campgrounds! They also take care of facility management for other sites up and down the country, owning and operating Scotland’s biggest Log Cabin construction and design group.
“The group clearly have no plans on slowing down and it’s exciting to be providing the first really new project to hit Glasgow’s scene in recent years!”
Niall Gillon, Revolver’s General Manager said: “We’re thrilled to be able to unveil the Revolver to the world. Merchant City is a bustling part of the city and to be sat above The Polo Lounge is a real honour. Places like Revolver are important for the LGBTQIA+ community as they act as an inclusive space to stay – whether you’re local or from overseas. I know I speak for the entire team when I say that I’m excited about what the future holds.
“We hope that Revolver can act as a hub of activity for Glasgow, hosting space for local vendors to set up and use for our services. This will include food & drink, crafts and entertainment to ensure the vibe totally encapsulates the beauty and culture of this city!”
Revolver is committed to being a sustainable establishment. With only three bedrooms having their own personal bathrooms, it removes the likelihood of unnecessary water wastage – the shared rooms are equipped with shared bathroom space. They are also growing their very own herb garden on the rooftop for the kitchen and bar to have fresh ingredients.
Revolver has an existing agreement with Polo Lounge – as they host some of the biggest drag stars in the world, they will receive a complimentary stay within the hotel. These stars, which have included Drag Race royalty Brooke Lynn Hytes, Detox & Crystal Methyd in the past, perform on the first Wednesday of every month.
