With a different guest performer each night, Sing-derella is a new kind of panto – all bathed in 00s nostalgia, pop culture and prosecco!
Every night a different unrehearsed guest performer walks on stage, and is transported back to the 00s as they attempt to perform an entire panto, with only a karaoke machine and a dance mat to guide them. Filled with songs and dance mat challenges, this is a tribute to the huns that actually lived through the Y2K era. To get to the end, the performer might need a little help from the audience too, but don’t worry there’s no compulsory singing!
It’s the early-00s and Sing-derella really wants to go to Brad and Jen’s Christmas ball, but the dress code doesn’t allow for a Juicy Couture tracksuit. The two ugly step sisters KIM AND AGGIE are giving her a rough time, but when she stumbles upon a magical karaoke machine everything changes. Can she defeat the evil wizard Dirty Den before he takes over the land? And, why won’t Buttons stop dancing? Set to a backdrop of Girls Aloud, Destiny’s Child and Double Denim – Sing-derella is a night out where anything could happen.
Guest Performers will include Simon David (Gay Tik Tok sensation and founder of straight comedian of the year), Martha Pothen (Member of Olivier award-winning Showstoppers), Seriah Sis (Drag act created by Iz Hesketh, Legally Blonde – Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), and Yasmin Dawes (May Queen, Paines Plough). Heading up a London freelancers office party night is guest performer Reece McMahon (Executive Director of Chisenhall dance, prev. producer at New Diorama), and there is further casting yet to be announced.
The show is written by Tom Ryalls and directed by Scott Le Crass, with design by Tim Kelly.
Sing-derella: The Karaoke Panto runs at the Omnibus Theatre from 1 to 17 December 2022.
