The full cast and creative team has been announced for the world premiere of Harriet Madeley’s queer adaptation of the Ibsen classic Hedda Gabler, which runs from 22 February to 11 March 2023 at Reading Rep.
This new adaptation by Harriet Madeley (The Listening Room, The Other Tchaikovsky) explores how the most famous female character of all time is trapped within a life that’s chosen for her.
Directed by Annie Kershaw (Best of Enemies, Dorian, Jekyll and Hyde), the play stars Anna Popplewell, best known for playing Susan Pevensie in Disney’s The Chronicles of Narnia franchise, who makes her theatrical debut in the title role.
The cast also includes Mark Desebrock (Hamlet) as George, Ryan Gerald (Guilt) as Brack, Natalie Perera (Glass Roots) as Thea and Jessica Temple (Patriots) as Isla.
The creative team includes Amy Watts as Designer, Jamie Lu as Sound Designer, Murong Li as Lighting Designer, Fran Levin as Costume Supervisor and Rose Burston as Stage Manager.
The play is produced by Reading Rep and A Girl Called Stephen, which is an Associate Company of Reading Rep.
