You don’t get an utterly timely, bonkers quirky, comically riotous, metafictional musical about queerness, identity and race coming along very often.
Do when you do – YOU NEED TO GO SEE IT!
Michael R Jackson’s musical A Strange Loop has won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, and caused a sensation on Broadway.
And now London gets to share some of the excitement as A Strange Loop comes over to the UK’s Barbican Theatre for a 12 week summer residency.
Directed by Stephen Bracket (Be More Chill), the show is set to an infectious beat, packed full of punchy songs, biting lyrics and razor sharp humour.
At its heart is the story of an overweight, black gay writer called Usher, who works his hateful day job whilst writing a musical!
A Strange Loop is running at the Barbican from 17 June to 9 September 2023.
