It doesn’t get much camper than this new play by Marcelo Dos Santos about the late Queen Mother and her loyal man servant, the real-life William (Billy) Tallon.
Billy Tallon served the Queen Mother for over 50 years, and was a larger-than-life character who was charming, loyal, promiscuous (in a very queer way!), and wickedly funny.
Our very own Luke Evans (Fast and Furious, Beauty and the Beast) and Dame of the stage and screen Penelope Wilton (Dounwton Abbey, After Life) star in this witty new play, directed by Michael Grandage (Frozen, My Policeman).
Set against the backdrop of the beginning of Thatcher’s Britain, the play promises to be a touching, provoking and hilarious look two extraordinary worlds – colliding.
Backstairs Billy is running at the Duke of York’s theatre from 27 October 2023 to 27 January 2024.
