Cabaret, musical theatre songs, politics, queer theatre, and circus combine with the trompe l’oeil illusionary art form in stunning new musical Trompe L’Oeil.
Written by Henry Parkman Biggs and directed by Blair Anderson (The SpongeBob Musical), the show takes inspiration from a wide range of musical genres and its songs contain cryptic and hidden messages, pushing lyrical structure in ways that, incredibly, make the songs themselves illusionary.
This tongue-in-cheek queer musical is inspired by famous surrealist pieces of art such as The Escherian Stairwell, Magritte’s apples and Salvador Dali’s melting clocks.
Trompe L’Oeil is playing at The Other Palace theatre in London from 28 September to 15 October 2023.
