THEATRE: Mother Goose Cracks One Out!

EXHIBITION: Censored! Stage, Screen, Society at 50
A free exhibition at the V&A in their Theatre & Performance rooms that mark 50 years since the Theatres Act came into force, abolishing state censorship on the British stage. Also including film, print and music censorship, some queer gems include censorship notes for Joe Orton’s Loot, a display about Dirk Bogarde’s film Victim, and an original copy  of 1981 book Jenny Lives with Eric and Martin which kicked off controversial law Section 28.

9 January – 2 February 2019
THEATRE: Coming Clean
Following a smash-hit run at the King’s Head Theatre, comes a well-deserved transfer for the revival of Coming Clean – from My Night with Reg writer Kevin Elyot. Funny, fresh and packed with razor-sharp wit, Coming Clean questions the nature of fidelity and the limits of love.

THEATRE: Extra Virgin

17 January – 16 February 2019
THEATRE: Grindr: The Opera!
Erik Ransom’s acclaimed show returns to Above The Stag following its successful run last year. A daring, humorous look at the changing landscape of gay relationships, and the greatest catalyst for the shift: Grindr.

18 January – 16 February 2019
THEATRE: Leave to Remain
A thrilling new play by Matt Jones featuring music from The Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke about about a young gay couple in London, whose relationship is affected when one of their visas is questioned.

23 January – 17 March 2019
THEATRE: Vault Festival 2019
London’s bold arts and entertainment festival returns for its seventh year, in venues across Waterloo. Presenting more than 400 shows and 2,000 artists, from theatre and comedy, immersive experiences, cabaret and live performances, queer highlights include gay plays Kompromat (23-27 Jan), inspired by the still-unsolved 2010 murder of GCHQ agent Gareth Williams, and Marmite (13-17 Feb), which was a sell-out at Edinburgh in 2018; and gay comedy Gaylords (9-10 Mar), featuring gay comedians Will Dalrymple and Mark Bittlestone.

EVENT: Winter Pride – Magical Circus
Winter Pride is back and promises to be bigger than ever. This year’s theme is Magical Circus, with four awe-inspiring circus themed rooms.

THEATRE: 9 to 5 The Musical
Dolly Parton’s rollicking musical based on the classic movie is coming into the West End for the first time. Starring Louise Redknapp, Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen and Brian Conley, the smash-hit show features an original Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by Dolly herself!

February 2019
EVENT: LGBT History Month
This year’s theme for LGBT History Month is History: Peace; Reconciliation and Activism, and promises to celebrate the centenary of aftermath of the end of WWI and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots with a host of events. Venues and events will include the V&A and the Royal Museums Greenwich.
