Tom Bateman to star in new stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love
Joseph Fiennes in breeches has stayed with us for quite a long time since Shakespeare in Love enchanted the world, won countless Oscars and did great business at the movie box office.
And now a brand new stage adaptation of the movie is heading to London’s Noel Coward Theatre (from 2 July 2014).
Adapted for the stage by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall, this delightful romantic comedy set in Elizabethan London will feature a cast of over 26 actors and musicians.
In the part of Shakespeare, played by Joseph Fiennes in the movie, will be Da Vinci’s Demons star Tom Bateman, alongside the gorgeous Lucy Briggs-Owen as Viola De Lesseps – immortalised in the film by Gwyneth Paltrow.
Expect some sumptuous costumes and sets and high-calibre acting, in a show that promises energy, colour, spectacle and love!
