Try and think of a movie of the last 20 years that deserved to be a stage musical more than Moulin Rouge! That’s right… you can’t!
The blockbuster Broadway hit is sleazing it over the pond and finally (after much Covid delay) opening in the West End this year, at the Piccadilly Theatre.
Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar-winning epic is brought to dazzling life on stage, recreating the epic grandeur of fin de siecle Paris, and the movie’s sumptuous, red velvet vibe.
The show features a range of iconic hits from artists including Piaf, Whitney Houston, Sting, Gnarles Barkley, Elton John, Rolling Stones, White Stripes, Eurythmics, Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine, OutKast, Lorde, Sia, Beyoncé, Pink, Britney Spears, Adele and Katy Perry.
Set in Montmartre Quarter of Paris at the turn of the century, Moulin Rogue is a world of indulgent beauty and unparalleled extravagance, of bohemians and aristocrats, of boulevardiers and mademoiselles. The show tells the story of an ambitious, lovesick composer, Christian and a dazzling, entrancing chanteuse, Satine as their worlds collide.
Moulin Rouge The Musical is directed by Alex Timbers, with a book by John Logan, music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine, choreography by Emmy® nominee Sonya Tayeh, set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Catherine Zuber and lighting design by Justin Townsend.Website & Booking
