Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre

Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre

Venue: Playhouse Theatre

One of the most exciting theatrical openings of the year (okay, apart from Moulin Rouge!) has to be this brand new revival of Cabaret.

Liza immortalised the movie version, but John Kander and Fred Ebb’s original stage version is the real deal, and director Rebecca Frecknall has created an extraordinary world at the Playhouse Theatre.

The hugely talented cast now includes Fra Fee as ‘The Emcee’, Amy Lennox as ‘Sally Bowles’, Omar Baroud as ‘Cliff Bradshaw’ and Vivien Parry as ‘Fraulein Schneider’, Elliot Levey as ‘Herr Schultz’, Stewart Clarke as ‘Ernst Ludwig’ and Anna-Jane Casey as ‘Fraulein Kost’.

The show also starsLiza Sadovy as ‘Fraulein Schneider’, Elliot Levey as ‘Herr Schultz’, Stewart Clarke as ‘Ernst Ludwig’ and Anna-Jane Casey as ‘Fraulein Kost’; plus Josh Andrews, Emily Benjamin, Sally Frith, Matthew Gent, Emma Louise Jones, Ela Lisondra, Theo Maddix, Chris O’Mara, Daniel Perry, Andre Refig, Christopher Tendai, Bethany Terry, Lillie-Pearl Wildman and Sophie Maria Wojna.

Cabaret is infused with a gay sensibility, from the Emcee, to Cliff’s sexuality, the gay men who wrote it, and the gay man (Christopher Isherwood) whose story it is based on.

Cabaret is booking at the Kit Kat Club (Playhouse Theatre), London.
