A new solo play called Jarman is debuting at the Greenwich Theatre this month, for one night only on 31 January 2022.
The play is timed to celebrate the anniversary of what would have been Derek Jarman’s 80th birthday, and the night is also raising money for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Jarman is written and performed by Mark Farrelly (Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope, Howerd’s End) and directed by renowned cabaret performer Sarah-Louise Young.
Following the gala performance, significant figures who knew him will speak about his lasting impact in a 45 minute discussion, includinghuman rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, actor and composer Simon Fisher-Turner, and actor David Meyer.
The show will also embark on a UK tour.
Derek Jarman is known as a film-maker, painter, gardener at Prospect Cottage, activist and writer. His influence remains as strong as it was on the day AIDS killed him in 1994.
