Organisation Queercircle gets a permanent London home in Greenwich, opening in June 2022.
Run by founder Ashley Joiner, the LGBTQ+ charity Queercircle works at the intersection of arts, culture and social action, and has been hosting workshops and events with artists, curators, writers and community organisers since 2016.
They will have a permanent home in the swanky new Design District in North Greenwich, built right next to the O2 Arena.
The new home will have a main gallery space, reading room and library and project spaces, helping Queercircle to run their community focused programme of exhibition commissions, collaborative artists residencies and year-long learning and participation opportunities. They plan to programme three seasons a year, each comprising an exhibition by an LGBTQ+ contemporary artist, an archive exhibition and a participatory residency.
Over 50% of dedicated LGBTQ+ spaces in London have closed in the last decade, so Queercircle is an important new addition to London, and promises to support the LGBTQ+ community through an annual programme of physical and digital exhibition commissions, participatory artist residencies and a public programme designed to strengthen links between arts, culture, health and wellbeing.
Opens June 2022
